Trading Jacks

Trading Jacks is a site designed to highlight the workings of the freelancing population, to promote small business, and to promote community-mindedness in Orlando, FL.  In this fast-paced culture, many of us tend to fall into the ‘jack-of-all-trades’ category–or ‘jack of many trades,’ if you prefer.  But it is easy to get lost in the crowd, and all of our ‘trades’ keep us over-occupied and leave us unconnected.

Trading Jacks is about exchanging stories and experiences.  It’s about connecting everyday, independent, creative people with one another.  Part of it is voyeuristic; you can peep into the soul of the Orlando community without having to take any action.  But I invite you to really partake of the community here.  Meet people at farmer’s markets, get involved in community events, take part in discussions, support small business, support local business.

Trading Jacks is about scrutinizing the communities in which we live and work and play and looking for ways to make them better.  A little philosophy gets thrown in here or there, but it’s all practical, relevant, doable.  If you have your own ideas, feel free to leave comments and join in the discussion.  And if you know of cool people, places, or events in the Orlando area that ought to be recognized, email me.
